New England Equal Best Winning Streak Since Tom Brady Years with Win Over Jets
Rookie TreVeyon Henderson has recorded five scores in the present year
The New England Patriots tied their longest winning run since the Tom Brady era as they defeated division opponents the Jets 27-14 in professional football
Rookie Henderson shone brightly with three TDs as the Patriots notched an eighth straight win for the first time since legendary quarterback Tom Brady's closing campaign with the team in the 2019 season
Signal-caller Maye accumulated 281 yards and a TD, completing 25 passes from 34 throws
The triumph extends the New England's lead at the top of the AFC East as they improved to a 9-2 record, with the New York bottom after falling to a 2-8 mark
The opposing team had gone in front at Foxborough with QB Fields scoring a five-yard touchdown to conclude the Jets' initial series
But the New England fought back in the second quarter as the rookie scored two seven-yard TDs before the ball carrier hauled in a throw from Drake Maye at the rear of the endzone midway through the third quarter to push the score to 21 to 7
"That was a big time for him rising to the challenge, and it's been fantastic for him to keep earning playing time," the quarterback commented on Henderson. "He desires to be excellent."
Fields found Metchie in the latter part of the third period to reduce the lead for the Jets but Borregales kicked a two field goals in the fourth quarter as the home side sealed the victory
